UCC2 Manchester Mayhem

Fight 1 | Scott Jackson Vs Jonny Gillian (Middleweight)

In the show opener, Scott Jackson of Hyde MMA blasted Johnny Gillan, forcing a stoppage after a mere 18 seconds. Gillan, now 1-2, was floored by a gargantuan left hook, which Jackson followed up ruthlessly. Jackson, 2-0, is one to look out for in the Middleweight division.

Fight 2 | Eden Newton Vs Shaun Law (UCC Lightweight title)

Eden Newton claimed the Vacant UCC Lightweight crown, beating Dogs of War's Shaun Law in the process. Stockport's Newton showed vicious elbows en route to a stoppage after 58 seconds.

Fight 3 | Arturas Ziukas Vs Chris Ram (Middleweight)

Chris Ram had to endure disappointment, as he was stopped by game Lithuanian Arturas Ziukas after 2:22 of the second round of their Middleweight clash. Moss Side's Ram started promisingly, before getting caught out for showboating in the second, and Ziukas instinctively went in for the kill, attacking until stopped by the referee.

Fight 4 | Sam Boult Vs Daniel Tansey (Welterweight)

Daniel Tansey suffered an injury to his arm in this bout with Sam Boult, who looks to have a lot of potential. The bout ended after 1:21 of the first due to a triangle choke, sending Tansey's Semi-Pro record to 2-1. Boult is now 5-1 as a Semi-Pro.

Fight 5 | Alex Minogue Vs Andrius Juskas (Middleweight)

Alex Minogue, who now looks set to face Andy Evans at UCC 3, looked much improved since his first fight, decomposing Andrius Juska and negating his strengths before sinking in an armbar after just 3:10 of the first session. Minogue improves his win streak.

Fight 6 | Ali Arish Vs Kent Kauppinnen (Welterweight)

In a battle of the unbeatens, Ali Arish emerged victorious, defeating Kent Kauppinnen of Dragons Lair Gym with a unanimous decision.

Arish's superb wrestling was his main weapon, and through this he could dictate where the fight took place, although Kauppinnen did a good job remaining active off his back and when standing was the more creative of the pair. The decision was fair though, and Arish can look to keep his unbeaten stretch going. Kauppinen loses his unbeaten record, but is only 18 years of age!

Fight 8 | Shaun Lomas Vs Paul Gardener (UCC Light-Heavyweight title)

Shaun Lomas showed immense heart to keep his UCC Light Heavyweight Title in the face of the challenge that was Moss Side Ground And Pound's Paul Gardner.

Gardner opened well, closing distance and working well on the top when it went to the floor. However, Lomas managed to work his way into mount, from where he tirelessly unleashed barrages of ground and pound. Gardner did a decent job of covering up, improving his position by finding half guard, but the damage had been done.

Paul struggled to rise at the end of the round, and in the corner he looked to be in dire straits. He couldn't answer the bell, rendering Lomas the victor.

Fight 9 | Murat Polat Vs Andy Brocklebank (UCC Featherweight title)

Polat began aggressively, and it wasn't long before Brocklebank, a Pro debutant in MMA was sent to the floor by a straight right hand thrown with mean intentions. Murat then followed up with ground and pound, until he was pulled off after just 38 seconds of round one by the referee. This was an excellent display from the Evade Martial Arts prodigy.

Fight 10 | Andy Evans Vs Keiren Mullen (UCC Middleweight title)

Andy Evans' scrap with Kieran Mullin was an excellent contest for the UCC Middleweight Title; culminating in Samurai Jiu Jitsu's Evans retaining his belt and moving to 2-0 after 2:53 of the second session.

Mullin was deducted points in both rounds one and two for '12 to 6' elbowing (downwards elbow is a UCC foul), although in general, in the stand up, he was the more effective fighter. It was in the clinch and on top where Evans would come into his own, as shown by the conclusion of the encounter, whereby he utilised great ground and pound until the referee called a halt to proceedings. Mullins dropped to 2-1 as a Pro with this match.

Fight 11 | Leigh Kahoon Vs Andy Devant (UCC Welterweight title)

In the main event, Leigh Cohoon of Hyde MMA retained his UCC Welterweight Title against Manchester Ground and Pound's Andy Devant. Despite Devant's bulk, 'The Boom' remained composed, and when his foe shot for a takedown, Cohoon worked dilligently to maintain good position before sinking in an inverted triangle.

Devant was forced to tap after just 2:02 of the first, capping off an excellent performance for Cohoon.
